Thought I'd do a little post about one of my favorite hair and clothing inspirations of late.  I know it looks like i've disappeared, but i'm still here, reading every one's blogs and stuff.  But i've been super busy and its been hectic lately (I've also been having some fun) and i look up and, my word, its Monday again.  Another week has passed by before i even realized it.  also a week from my last post, which might be rude... (?).  So i apologize for the looooong halts between posts,  I'm working on it.

Barbra Stanwyck wasn't exactly as popular as Rita Hayworth or Judy Garland or even Ginger Rogers, but she was still VERY well known.

Inspiration: For the Love of Aprons!

Hey y'all!  Sorry i haven't been posting as usual. I've been terribly busy with my Victory Garden and sewing and crocheting for upcoming events.

This morning i wanted to do a little apron post just because i love aprons.  Who doesn't?  I've recently become addicted to them and thought i would post some pretty pictures and patterns of vintage aprons.
I love to sew them.  Not only are do they serve a wonderful purpose (for i am quite messy in the kitchen) but they are SUPER cute.  I usually wear a half apron when cleaning around the house, a full apron for cooking and baking (for obvious reasons) and when one of those gets old and worn out,  I put them out in the barn/shed for gardening and yard work.

Here's a tip, even if you haven't mad the apron yourself, you can still put your own mark on it.  Dressing it up with rick rack, piping, harmonizing colors of bias tape or lace can revive an old apron and give it a vintage feel.

Snood Inspiration!!

Here we are on another vintage inspired day!
Today i thought I'd go with a little snood inspiration.  My hair is more of bandanna length for working but I'm still addicted to snoods.

I have a wonderful, easy crochet pattern coming up so i thought i get everybody ready for it with a little inspiration.  ( i know I'm probably driving everyone crazy with the crochet patterns but i just can't resist!)  So here it is.  Its also a little bit of a cop-out because Ive been working a lot in my Victory Garden and i need to post something really fast but i love snoods.  Talk about an easy way to go 1940s!

Simple, yet so elegant.  I could never pull off a rust colored snood and a green dress like she does!

Dress Inspiration: Happy Spring!

  Hello everybody and happy first day of spring!

 I have been working on literally one dress after another in every spare moment I can get due to the fact that i recently found a boatload of great vintage/older patterns at different thrift stores.  Most of them have spring-like fabrics but there was a long sleeve dress that i made in dark purple about a week ago in case it turns cold again.

  If i really work at it (that and i am steadily getting better at sewing) and don't neglect any other things that needed to be done around the house i can get an easy dress finished in about a week.  But they have been taking me about two weeks because i have also been knitting a lot.

  I was stumped on a fabric choice and decided i needed a little vintage spring dress inspiration.  I Googled it and now I'm crazy about it.  It really did help with my color choice by the way. 

  So come on and get inspired with me on this first day of spring!
